Exodus 8:2-14

New International Version

²If you refuse to let them go, I will send a plague of frogs^(A) on your whole country. ³The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people,^(B) and into your ovens and kneading troughs.^(C) ⁴The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”

⁵Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff^(D) over the streams and canals and ponds, and make frogs^(E) come up on the land of Egypt.’”

⁶So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs^(F) came up and covered the land. ⁷But the magicians did the same things by their secret arts;^(G) they also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

⁸Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray^(H) to the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices^(I) to the Lord.”

⁹Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time^(J) for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”

¹⁰“Tomorrow,” Pharaoh said.

Moses replied, “It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the Lord our God.^(K) ¹¹The frogs will leave you and your houses, your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”

¹²After Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh, Moses cried out to the Lord about the frogs he had brought on Pharaoh. ¹³And the Lord did what Moses asked.^(L) The frogs died in the houses, in the courtyards and in the fields. ¹⁴They were piled into heaps, and the land reeked of them.

¹My heart is stirred by a noble theme
as I recite my verses for the king;
my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

²You are the most excellent of men
and your lips have been anointed with grace,^(B)
since God has blessed you forever.^(C)

³Gird your sword^(D) on your side, you mighty one;^(E)
    clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.^(F)
⁴In your majesty ride forth victoriously^(G)
    in the cause of truth, humility and justice;^(H)
    let your right hand^(I) achieve awesome deeds.^(J)
⁵Let your sharp arrows^(K) pierce the hearts^(L) of the king’s enemies;^(M)
    let the nations fall beneath your feet.
⁶Your throne, O God,^[c] will last for ever and ever;^(N)
    a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
⁷You love righteousness^(O) and hate wickedness;^(P)
    therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions

    from palaces adorned with ivory^(W)

⁹Daughters of kings^(Y) are among your honored women;

¹⁰Listen, daughter,^(AC) and pay careful attention:^(AD)
    Forget your people^(AE) and your father’s house.
¹¹Let the king be enthralled by your beauty;^(AF)
    honor^(AG) him, for he is your lord.^(AH)
¹²The city of Tyre^(AI) will come with a gift,^[d]^(AJ)
    people of wealth will seek your favor.
¹³All glorious^(AK) is the princess within her chamber;
    her gown is interwoven with gold.^(AL)
¹⁴In embroidered garments^(AM) she is led to the king;^(AN)
    her virgin companions^(AO) follow her—
    those brought to be with her.
¹⁵Led in with joy and gladness,^(AP)
    they enter the palace of the king.
